FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is HIIT Addict?

HIIT Addict is a powerful interval timer and YouTube workout video app for Android with iPhone and iPad support coming soon. It's ideal for any time-based workout, like HIIT, Tabata, EMOM, circuits, and indoor smart-trainer cycling.

Each workout (whether it's a timer, or YouTube workout video) is represented with colored blocks, so you can see the entire session at a glance and know exactly where you are, what is coming next, how difficult, and how long it lasts. This visual approach makes it easy to plan your effort and stay motivated throughout the workout.

You can also train along with curated YouTube videos. Each video workout includes the same colored blocks, so you get a clear, high-level view of the intervals while you follow the instructor.

What do the colored blocks mean?

The colored blocks are a visual workout profile. Each block represents one section of the workout. Width shows relative duration; color and height show intensity. Taller, warmer-colored blocks mean harder effort, while shorter, cooler blocks (including gray) mean easier work or rest.

This concept is standard in dedicated cycling platforms such as Zwift, TrainerRoad, and TrainingPeaks. HIIT Addict brings the same clear visualization to all kinds of workouts, whether you are on the bike or off, doing HIIT, circuits, or EMOMs.

What types of workouts are supported?

HIIT Addict is built for any time-based workout. That includes HIIT formats such as Tabata, Norwegian 4x4, and classic intervals; bodyweight or weighted exercise circuits; EMOM; and structured indoor cycling (from basic intervals up to complex power-based training like you would do with Zwift, TrainerRoad, or TrainingPeaks).

You can also follow along with YouTube workout videos. Any YouTube video can be saved in the app, but if you want the colored block visualization, we recommend browsing the curated videos in the Discover screen.

Does HIIT Addict support exercises based on sets and reps?
Not currently. HIIT Addict is designed for time-based workouts, so every interval, circuit, or exercise is driven by a timer rather than counting sets and reps.
What makes HIIT Addict different from competing apps?

Most interval timers only show a countdown for the current step. That tells you how much time is left in the current interval, but it does not show where you are in the overall workout, what is coming next, or how hard the next section will be.

HIIT Addict shows your entire workout as colored blocks, so you can see at a glance where you are, what is coming next, how hard each interval is, and how long it lasts. Taller, warmer-colored blocks mean harder effort; wider blocks mean longer relative duration. That high-level profile view (visualization) makes complex sessions feel simple and keeps you motivated from start to finish.

HIIT Addict also lets you set a target effort for each interval using RPE (Rate of Perceived Exertion), heart rate zones 1-5, watts, or a percentage of FTP. (the latter two are important for cycling workouts) Other interval timers do not give you that level of control.

The other big difference is YouTube workout video support. You can build a library of your favorite YouTube workouts, and every one of our curated videos comes with the same colored visualization blocks. Instead of guessing when the next interval starts, you can see it right alongside the video. It is a much better way to follow along with YouTube workouts.

Who is HIIT Addict for?

HIIT Addict is for anyone who wants a more powerful and visual all-purpose interval timer for HIIT, Tabata, EMOM, circuits, and other time-based workouts.

It is also a great fit for indoor cyclists who want structured smart trainer workouts but find apps such as Zwift, TrainerRoad, and TrainingPeaks too complex or overkill. If you are not training for a race and just want to get or stay fit, HIIT Addict gives you the focused tools you need without the extra noise.

It is also for people who enjoy following YouTube workouts. Every curated video includes colored visualization blocks, so you can see the entire workout structure and follow along more easily.

Does HIIT Addict come with pre-made workouts?
Yes. The app includes a growing library of curated workouts for different goals, including Tabata, general HIIT, EMOM, circuits, VO2 max, and cycling-specific goals like threshold, sweet spot, anaerobic, and more. You can browse them in the Discover screen and add them to your personal collection. Once in your personal collection you can feel free to edit/tweak them as needed.
Can I create my own custom workouts?

Yes. HIIT Addict includes a powerful visual workout editor that lets you build almost any time-based workout you can imagine. You can chain together blocks such as warmups, cooldowns, rest periods, interval blocks, custom blocks, EMOM blocks, and exercise circuit blocks.

The editor shows each block as a colored segment, so you can add, delete, and rearrange parts of your workout easily. You can also set target effort with RPE, heart rate zones, FTP percentage, or watts, and save your creations for quick access.

What's the deal with YouTube workouts?

HIIT Addict is more than an interval timer. You can follow along with curated YouTube workouts, and each one includes the same colored visualization blocks that the timer uses. That means you can see the whole workout structure at a glance while the video plays.

Can I use HIIT Addict without any connected devices?

Yes. Even without a smart trainer, heart rate monitor, or any other connected device, HIIT Addict works as a simple work and rest timer for any exercise you like. The big difference from a generic interval timer is the colored block visualization. You can see the entire workout structure at a glance, so you always know where you are, what is coming next, and how long you have left.

Does HIIT Addict work offline?

The app is split into two parts: timers and YouTube videos. All saved timers work fully offline.

YouTube videos themselves always need an internet connection to play, and browsing or searching the Discover screen also requires a connection.

Does HIIT Addict support heart rate monitors?
Yes. The app can connect to Bluetooth heart rate monitors so you can track your heart rate and train by heart rate zones alongside other metrics. It will even show you what zone (1-5) you're currently in.
Is there an iOS version?
HIIT Addict is currently available on Android. The iOS version is coming soon. You can message us through the contact form and we'll let you know when as soon as it's available.
Is HIIT Addict free?
Yes, the core app is free to use. There is also an optional Pro upgrade that unlocks additional features such as cross-device sync, more saved-workout slots, and other advanced capabilities.
What are the limitations of the free version?

Is a user account required?
No. You can use the app and save workouts locally without creating an account. If you upgrade to Pro and want to access your saved workouts on multiple devices (or use the same app on the web), you will need to create an account and log in.
